Being a traditional ‘Colonial Queenslander’ with a rich history, it was paramount that any refurbishments pay absolute respect to the heritage of the grand abode. Dating back to 1890's, the house was lost in a card game by the then owners and occupants, apparently two spinster aunts had to move out in 1910. In the early years of the Second World War, the house was seconded by the American army as a base for their commander in chief and the owner, Mr. Ewan Palmer, had to move out for the duration.

Today, the house has been restored beautifully, with contemporary design and decoration which only complement the traditional aesthetic. It has single skin veranda walls with wrap around verandas on three sides.  The two front rooms being the Drawing room and a front bedroom have Georgian style sash double-hung windows on the original pulley/weight system.  They reach from the floor to approx. three quarters up the 3.6m high ceilings.  The front veranda roof is fully lined with d bead boards.

The original part of the house has D- Bead boards (not VJ ... That came in later). The architrave in the main part of the house is all original with gorgeous square block motifs that are very Georgian in origin. The Front sash windows are part of a truncation of the corners of the house which are very elegant and can be opened when entertaining as people move freely in and out. There is a large fireplace which still works and is in keeping with Georgian style as it is wide and low. We love the original servery on the pulley system which is situated between the kitchen and dining room.
